Antique Tins: Recycle, Reuse, and Repurpose

I was delighted when studies made the rounds saying that coloring stimulates creative thinking. My joy wasn’t limited to a sudden boom in the supply of intriguing black-and-white designs to be embellished. I was excited because I have many colored pencils and a cool tin with great graphics in which to house them. Successfully repurposed! Before the pencils, my 80-year-old coffee tin had held computer disks. Since MacBook Pros no longer use removable disks, it had been gathering dust. My Lucky Strike tin had first held floppies and later Zip disks. Between the Acts used to hold USB flash drives. Thanks to advances in technology and the cloud, these tins were emptied long ago. Now, they await serving a more-than-decorative function, but I cherish them in the meantime. It’s clear that I’ll continue to pick up vintage tins whenever I find them at tag and estate sales, even if their next repurpose eludes me for the time being.
